Fenghuang Ancient Town and Furong Town rank among China’s top ten popular ancient towns

Fenghuang Ancient Town of Fenghuang County and Furong Town of Yongshun County in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture ranked among top ten popular ancient towns in 2024 for its comprehensive tourism development index on June 20.

The analysis report on the tourism development index of ancient towns shows that the Fenghuang Ancient Town and Furong Town have good performances in searching popularity index, passenger flow and popularity index and tourist satisfaction index. The spatial distribution of the searching popularity index of ancient towns nationwide shows that the Jiangnan region is a first-level core hot spot area, the border of Shanxi, Hunan, Guizhou and Chongqing forms a second-level core area, and the Northwest Yunnan lies at a third-level area.

Fenghuang Ancient Town ranked second in the searching popularity index. Ancient towns with high tourist satisfaction are mainly located in the Jiangnan water towns and the border areas of Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan and Guizhou. Furong Town ranked sixth and eighth in terms of popularity index and tourist satisfaction respectively. These indexes indicate the Fenghuang Ancient Town and Furong Ancient Town in Xiangxi are highly popular with tourists, showing a hot cultural tourism market.
